How to Load Photos onto a Digital Photo Frame
Filed under Digtial Frame Features
A digital photo picture frame, despite the fact that it looks very much like on ordinary picture frame, is in fact just an electronic device powered by a very simple computer.
The electronics inside each digital photo display is very similar to that found inside your home computer whether it is a laptop or desktop pc.
However, because of the much simpler tasks it has to perform when displaying digital photos it can be much smaller and has been miniaturized to fit inside the frame around or behind the digital display.
The actual display on which you can see the photos is also very similar to the screen on your own home computer, but constructed on a smaller scale to fit within the frame.
There are several different ways and methods for uploading and a lot of what you need to do will depend on where you are trying to get your image files from. This could be from your own computer, from your digital camera, from a memory card or USB stick that someone has provided you with as well as other ways too. Here we will focus on the main methods that most of us will use with a electronic picture frame - it’s all pretty easy stuff!
Most digital frames will come with a manual or even a cd or dvd with maybe a video to show what you need to do to get photos, images, music audio and video etc onto your new electronic frame. Here is typical of what might be providied on the higher end units, but on a cheaper frame you may only get a manual, but it should be easy to work out what to do. Watch the video below as it will probably help you out and give you a good idea of what to do whichever digital frame you have.

Using a Memory Card or Memory Stick
A digital photo frame can only display digital photos.
I guess this is a bit obvious, but if you want to display your printed photographs on your digital picture frame then you are first going to have to get them converted into a digital format and then have them put onto a memory card or memory stick that will fit into the memory card slot on your digital picture frame.
There are many online and retail services that will do this for you.
The most common way to get your digital photos on to your photo frame viewer from your digital camera is to take the memory card containing the photos out of your digital camera and insert into the memory card slot of the digital frame viewer.
You can also use this same method of transfer to get digital images off your own PC computer and into the digital photo frame, assuming of course that your PC has a memory card slot compatible with the digital frame.
If you find that your memory card is not compatible you can usually get a memory card adapter or memory card reader for either your PC or digital photo frame that will then allow you to transfer your images easily.
Using a USB Flash Drive or Pen Drive
Some of the more recent digital picture frames have a built-in USB port socket so that you can now use that to connect a USB flash drive or Pen drive to the digital frame so it can read the digital images from it.
What’s more a USB flash drive can easily be connected to almost any PC, because today most of them have USB ports, to transfer photos easily from your PC to your digital picture frame.
Many PC owners find it easier to use their computer to download their photos initially form their digital camera so they can get rid of the bad ones, and there always are some, before transferring to the digital frame for a more permanent display.
That said there are still many of us who want to see our digital photos as quick as possible or who may not have a computer. We will then just load the photos straight off the digital camera’s memory card.
Also it is now possible to download photos and other images direct from your computer via a USB cable.
Load and View your Photos
Once all the photos are on a memory card or USB flash drive, which is in or connected to the digital photo frame, then the photos are ready to be displayed and viewed.
The digital frame should be able to read and display the photos directly from the portable media (flash drive or memory card) you are using and all you have to do is press a button, sometime two, to make it happen.
Some digital picture frames also allow you to transfer the photos from the portable media into the digital frame’s own memory, so that you can remove your portable media for use elsewhere. This again is easily done by pressing a couple of buttons or using a remote control which some of the more advanced digital photo display systems now have.
One all the photos are loaded up you can then set them for how you want to view them. You can select to just display your single best or favorite photo or have a slide show running to display a different photo after a period of time you select such as 30 seconds. Usually photos can be displayed in the order they were loaded or in a random sequence. You choose!
Once your digital picture frame is set up it will continue to display your images for as long as you want!
